DISNEY ALUMS CELEBRATE 55 YEARS OF MUSIC MAGIC!
KDI Music is Proud to be one of the Sponsors for this Great Event!
Happening Saturday, July 17, 2010, the Disneyland Alumni Club celebrates 55 magical years!
To celebrate Walt’s great dream, the Disneyland Alumni Club invites you, your family, and your guests to attend their gala celebration, “55 Years of Music Magic!”, in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.
“Disneyland is inseparable from its rich musical heritage,” explains Jim Walker, President of the Disneyland Alumni Club. “Even Disneyland’s fireworks are timed to a musical score. Music is everything to Disneyland, and it’s everything to this once-in-a-lifetime event!”
Every five years the Disneyland Alumni Club recognizes a Disneyland milestone anniversary with a gala reunion paying tribute to the men and women who made magic for countless guests over the years at “The Happiest Place on Earth.” It’s a perfect time for reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones, reminiscing, and making memories come to life.
This year, in honor of Disneyland’s 55th anniversary, the much-anticipated event will be a homecoming party filled with music, song, good food, and legendary entertainment.
“Music plays a happy role in every chapter of the Disney story, from the first sound cartoon—“Steamboat Willie”—to the classic animated films and on to live theatrical productions on Broadway,” said Richard Ferrin, Alumni Club Vice President and co-producer of the 55th event. “To me, Disneyland is one giant downbeat as guests are ushered into the Park to tunes from the gay 1890s and sent home with music still ringing in their ears from fireworks and parades.”
Ferrin also points out that music is a major supporting “cast member” at Disneyland, setting the mood for each themed land and everything that happens in it. The subtle shift in tempo as you move from land to land makes a single enchanting soundtrack, heralding your arrival in a whole new world of Disney wonder. All of these magical musical facts—and so many more—take center stage in an orchestrated evening of sound, history, old friends, special guests, and fresh inspiration.
Who’ll Be There?
Joining us that night will be Disney Legend Richard Sherman of the Sherman Brothers songwriting duo who brought us the music of Mary Poppins, “Winnie the Pooh,” “It’s a Small World,” and so much more; the JK Jazz Band; the popular Nocturnes surf band; Disney Legend Ron Logan, former executive vice president and executive producer for Walt Disney Entertainment; original Mouseketeers Tommy Cole and Sherry Alberoni—and that’s just for starters.
Leading off the festivities will be Disney Legend Ron Dominguez, whose family actually owned the land on which Disneyland was built! Add Roy P. Disney; Disneyland veteran Coke Corner pianist Rod Miller; the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet; Billy Hill and the Hillbillies; Disney Legend and Imagineer X. Atencio, who wrote the songs for the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean; Don Dorsey who helped bring the fabled Main Street Electrical Parade to life, and the excitement just keeps growing.
There’s more, of course, including a beautifully prepared banquet, birthday cake for everyone, and as many surprises as we can fit in to the evening.
